My Proudest Moment
My proudest moment was when I got straight A’s and got accepted into honors classes. I was so amused to be able to bring home a great report card home. During the whole year I was doing fine but then my grades started to slip and I saw the disappointment in my parents grow.
I knew I had to do something to get my grades up. I realized I was too involved in other people’s life and not my own that mine was getting worse right in front of my eyes. When I got my progress report and I didn’t have A’s or even B’s I knew I had to get everything back on track. As soon as I got home I looked thru my stuff and got reorganized so I could work and bring my grades up.
I went to all of my teachers and got the work I needed. Then that weekend instead of hanging with friends I sat at the computer and worked. Yeah my friends were kind of upset that stayed home but I needed to I had to do this.
That Monday I turned in everything I had to. I was completely caught up, I told my parents and the way they looked made me think that this was worth it. But now I had to keep this up, I couldn’t slip again.
By the time our report card came out I was terrified to look at it. But I got up my courage and did. My stomach dropped as I unfolded the paper.
I was relieved when I found out I got straight A’s. I couldn’t wait to go home and show my parents, but not only did I pull my grades up I was able to take all honors classes because of my improvement and they saw good potential in me. This really boosted my self esteem. I was ready to move on and take on new challenges.

Shattered
By Paul Langan
This book is about a girl named Darcy that attends Bluford High. She had plenty of problems. There are some at school and some at home. Her grandma died a couple of months ago and her dad had a drinking problem before and he went thru therapy and got better. They began there new life and it was all okay and then they found out her mom was pregnant. That really put a strain on their family so her dad wanted to pick up another job but that made her mom and dad fight because he would be a cap driver at night. That was not safe at all but he needed the extra money so he took it. Then from all the stress they noticed that he started to drink again but Darcy and her sister didn’t tell their mom so they didn’t stress her out more.
She had other problems like at the beginning of the summer, she was raped by a nineteen year old named Brian, but then before anything got worse her dad broke in and came to her rescue. Her ex-boyfriend, Hakeem had left her and moved to Detroit because his dad has problems with health. When he comes back for the school year, Darcy feels like she has to tell him about Brian, but she couldn’t find the right time to. Then Hakeem was acting weird towards her like he was hiding something. Then she went to Tarah to ask her and then she blew it off and now she thinks her best friends Cooper and Tarah are against her and are lying to her for Hakeem.
The truth was that Hakeem met another girl in Detroit named Anika. She didn’t know this until she met Anika one day after school. This caused tons of problems and it broke Darcy’s heart. A couple days later Hakeem wrote Darcy a letter telling him to meet her after school in the park. So that afternoon she went to the park and he was waiting there for her. They started to talk and Hakeem started to explain his self. Then Darcy had to sit him down and tell him what happened to her that summer. Then immediately Hakeem jumped up gave her a hug and left. Later that night Tarah called and said that Hakeem and Cooper found out about Brian and had a fight with him. Darcy ran out and meet them but she was too late they were already fighting but she stopped him before it got any worse.
At the end, her father stops drinking for good and does the right thing. Darcy and her sister Jamee work more hours because their mother is pregnant. Darcy and her friends are cool again, and neither of them no longer keep secrets and she is back with Hakeem.
My opinion about this book is that I don’t think she should have got made that he was seeing another girl but I am sure it hurt. But I am glad they are together that’s all I wanted thru out the whole story. I thought it was a good thing that they told them what happened instead of keeping it from each other. This book is like real, it has situations from the real world and it could really help someone if they had the same problems and they read this book.
I would recommend this book to kids that have problems at home because it could help you and plus it could keep you get away and just not worry. It’s one of them books you can’t put down because you want to know what’s going to happen. I really liked this book!

Success is counted sweetest
By those who ne’er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need.
Not one of all the purple Host
Who took the Flag today
Can tell the definition
So clear of Victory
As he defeated — dying –
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Burst agonized and clear!
Poem Review
I really like this poem and I didnt get it the first time I read it but by the second time I totally understood what she was writing about. Her poem had so much meaning behind it and I love it.
Sleeping In The Forest By Mary Oliver
I thought the earth remembered me,
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.
Poem Review
When I read this poem I got it the first time. Also when I read it to my mom she got it the first time to. Mary Oliver has her way with words and she describes every in very good details.
Touched By An Angle By Maya Angelou
We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.
Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.
We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free
Poem Review
She talks about her might being in love and what she relates to love.
Woman Work
I’ve got the children to tend
The clothes to mend
The floor to mop
The food to shop
Then the chicken to fry
The baby to dry
I got company to feed
The garden to weed
I’ve got shirts to press
The tots to dress
The can to be cut
I gotta clean up this hut
Then see about the sick
And the cotton to pick.
Shine on me, sunshine
Rain on me, rain
Fall softly, dewdrops
And cool my brow again.
Storm, blow me from here
With your fiercest wind
Let me float across the sky
‘Til I can rest again.
Fall gently, snowflakes
Cover me with white
Cold icy kisses and
Let me rest tonight.
Sun, rain, curving sky
Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone
Star shine, moon glow
You’re all that I can call my own.
Poem Review
This poem is about what one women has to do everyday. Also what she has to go thru to be successful in her life.
Uhh…I Hate DSTP!!
This weekend we had DSTP and it was so dumb…I think we shouldnt have to do it, its just a waste of time and a waste of money. Its not that its hard or anything we just should put the money towards something that we need alot more. There are people in the United States that are starving and cant go to school and we are wasting money on some stupid test!

The Bad Beginning
This book was outstanding, it had some ups but many downs! The Bad Beginning begins badly for the three Baudelaire children, and then gets worse. Their misfortunes begin one gray day on Briny Beach when Mr. Poe tells them that their parents died in a fire that destroyed their whole house. I couldn’t even to begin to tell you how I think the felt.
The three children stayed at Mr. Poe’s house until Mr. Poe found Count Olaf. He is like their 3rd uncle removed or something. That was the closest thing they could find to family. As the stepped into that house their world turns completely upside down. He makes them clean and do all the household choices. He had a huge house and made all three of them sleep in a small little room with only one bed. They just had a horrible time staying with him.
Their uncle tried to make them fit in so he told them to join in his next play but really it was just a plan to get their money that their family left them. He convinced them to participate but then they figured out the real reason he wanted to get them to act with them. They turned around and said no and he knew they knew what was going on. He took action and wasn’t going to give up that easy so he captured Sunny and put her in the tower. The only way to get her back was to participate in the play so they did. But of course they outwitted him by sighing the paper with her left instead of the right.
The book started horrible and it ended betta but it still ended really badly. If you like fairy tales and happy endings this is not the book for you.
Winter Break
My winter storm break!
I spent my winter break with alecia. I spent the whole winter break with her! We went to the movies, ate junk food and hung without guys. Well, I spent half my break with her and the other half with Jillian.
“Snap, Snap, Click, Click” That’s the sounds of the camera going off in Sony! Alecia and I went to the outlets and we hung out in Sony looking at the pictures. We thought we were having innocent fun until we got kicked out! Like oh-em-gee that’s kind of dumb! They said we were not allowed to take pictures in a place were they was valuable merchandise. I guess they thought we were spies.
Then we went into aeropostle and bought new skinny jeans and t-shirts! After all that walking around we went to wal mart! Considering it was valentine’s ay and we were both single and no valentines we were each other’s! So we bought each other roses and bears. Well since I am the better friend I also got her chocolate.
After all that walking around outside and playing in the snow with my brother and sister I got sick. I have been sick ever since then! I have a sore throat and a ear infection. Now everyone should feel bad me =). But yeah that’s how my winter break went it wasn’t really fun!
So the weekend after break we went to school and I felt so miserable because I was sick the only reason why is because I had to stay with alecia ! Her mom told her over and over again to come inside. Another reason why I’m sick is because Jillian and I stayed up till 4:30 on YouTube and doing nails ( which I has no business doing myself) =) . So I recommend to anyone who reads this story not to ever play in the snow for a long time you might get sick like me and you’ll be sick until next spring break just like me!
